Tsavo park fees 2026 at a glance

Tsavo East and Tsavo West are two national parks run by the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS). Both are on the same rate line, but they are not one ticket. A daily fee gives you one entry for up to 24 hours. There is no free re-entry and no free change to the other park, so budget one fee per park and per day.

The rates below are the tariff in force since 1 October 2025 and apply in 2026. Non-residents usually pay in US dollars, residents and citizens in Kenyan shillings. If you would rather book a ready-made trip, look at our Tsavo safari tours and check what each one includes.

Our pick: a tour without park entry in the price

On this three-day trip from Nairobi the park entry for Tsavo East and Tsavo West is extra, which makes it a clear case for planning the fees separately.

Who counts as resident, child or student

The categories decide which rate you pay.

Resident

The resident rate needs a valid Kenyan residence permit. A tourist visa or an eTA is not proof of residence.

Children

The child rate covers ages 5 to under 18. Children aged 5 and younger are exempt, so for a child who is exactly five, confirm the amount at the gate or with KWS before you go.

Students

Students pay the child rate up to age 23. The visit must be an organised, documented educational visit by a recognised institution.

Exemptions

Kenyan citizens aged 70 and over, people with disabilities, and registered tour drivers, guides, boat crew and porters who meet the tariff's conditions are exempt. This does not apply to all foreign seniors.

Vehicle, ranger and walking safari charges

These come on top of the entry fee. Rates for 2026.

For a typical visitor with a small car or safari vehicle, the vehicle fee is the smallest part of the bill. Entry is the main cost.

Combination packages with Amboseli

For non-residents there are two packages that include Amboseli. Tsavo West with Amboseli costs $150 for adults and $80 for children and students. Tsavo East, Tsavo West and Amboseli costs $215 for adults and $115 for children and students. The rules on how long the packages last, in which order you use them and whether re-entry is allowed are set by KWS, so confirm them before you plan a route. For the Amboseli side, see Amboseli park fees.

How to pay

Plan on paying without cash.

KWS eCitizen

eCitizen is the payment route for park fees. Pay before you travel and keep the confirmation on your phone.

Cards and M-Pesa

eCitizen accepts M-Pesa and Visa and Mastercard. That does not mean a card works at every gate, so do not count on cash or card at the barrier.

Group bookings

Group or vehicle fees are not a per person price. Divide them only after you know the seat category of your vehicle.

Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary has its own fees

The private Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary sets its own entry fees, and a Tsavo fee does not cover it. Gates run from 06:00 to 18:00. Adults pay KES 600 for East African residents and $40 for non-residents. Children aged 5 to 11 pay KES 300 or $20. Fees apply from age 5. Vehicles pay $5 per night for 4โ€“12 seats, $10 for 13โ€“24, $15 for 25โ€“44 and $20 for 45 or more. Overnight and full board rates do not include the sanctuary entry. Check the current rates before you go, and see Taita Hills.

Camping is charged separately

Camping fees are separate from entry, and staying overnight does not replace the entry fee. See where to stay for campsite rates.

How much is entry to Tsavo National Park in 2026?

Non-resident adults pay $80 per park and day, and children and qualifying students $40. Kenya residents pay KES 1,350 for adults and KES 675 for children. East African citizens pay KES 1,000 and KES 500.

Is there one ticket for Tsavo East and Tsavo West?

How do I pay the Tsavo entry fee?

Through KWS eCitizen, before you travel. eCitizen accepts M-Pesa and Visa and Mastercard, but do not rely on cash or card at the gate.

Does a lodge or campsite stay include the entry fee?

No. Accommodation does not replace the park entry fee, and camping is charged separately.

Is this the official Tsavo website?

No. This is an independent travel guide. The rates come from the Kenya Wildlife Service tariff, so confirm the current amounts with KWS before you pay.
